BKA Network presentation

Building Knowledge & Acceptance

BKA Network work to influence change and to shape a robust, accessible support and transition system for women in Sweden. Helping to enhance their self-esteem and confidence, as well as, their sense of belonging to their local community. Newcomer, repatriate, expatriate, immigrant and refugee women in general, may face special challenges such as language barriers, poor understanding of societal norms, and possible discrimination and social exclusion. Thus, those who are able to socially, civically and economically engage and integrate, feel a stronger sense of belonging and empowerment. BKA Network strive to provide them with the tools and resources they need to fully and equally participate in all aspects of Swedish life.

BKA functions as a network to share lived experiences and voice needs, concerns, and expectations. A safe space to belong, while juggling their difference and sameness.

What is BKA Network

At BKA, our work is driven and guided by the notion immigrants bring skills and access to global markets, contributing to the social and cultural richness of the community and to our shared economic prosperity. Everyone should feel they belong by making space for and valuing their voices and experiences shaped by their own lived experiences.

BKA Network do not put upon women an unrealistic expectation of perfection –  BKA talk as openly about flaws and challenges as we do triumphs. Rather than offering a polished snapshot of a final point of success, we share the journey, and the lessons learned on the way. The art of modeling values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors creates a culture where others are inspired to do the same, as a result of one’s example. BKA Network seek to accomplish this through community, capacity building and a diverse set of initiatives focused on enhancing leadership development, social capital and a sense of belonging.

BKA offer professional development opportunities targeting newcomer, repatriate, expatriate, immigrant and refugee women. BKA recognizes that these women in particular, face a multiple of intersecting settlements and integration barriers within their community.
