The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Sweden had the pleasure of inviting us to a seminar titled:

“Reframing Central Asia: Uzbekistan’s Reform Transformation and the Region’s Emerging Strategic Role”

The seminar took place on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30 at Corner Hall, Sheraton Stockholm Hotel, Tegelbacken 6, 101 23 Stockholm, Sweden.

A distinguished seminar focusing on the growing importance of Central Asia in an evolving Eurasian landscape brought together diplomats, policymakers, business leaders, and regional experts to discuss the region’s future opportunities and challenges.

The event highlighted Central Asia’s increasing strategic relevance, with particular attention given to Uzbekistan’s ambitious reform agenda, regional cooperation, connectivity initiatives, energy development, critical minerals, emerging regional frameworks, and the future of dialogue between Central Asia and the Nordic countries.

A special guest at the seminar was Senator Sodiq Safoyev of Uzbekistan, one of the country’s most prominent political figures and advocates for reform. During his presentation, Senator Safoyev provided valuable insights into Uzbekistan’s ongoing transformation, outlining the government’s efforts to modernize the economy, strengthen institutions, attract foreign investment, and deepen international partnerships.

The discussion also explored how Central Asia is emerging as a key bridge between Europe and Asia, benefiting from its strategic location and growing role in regional trade, energy security, and geopolitical cooperation. Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the Nordic region and Central Asia as both regions seek new opportunities for sustainable development, innovation, and economic collaboration.

The seminar offered an important platform for exchanging perspectives on the region’s future and underscored Uzbekistan’s increasingly influential role in shaping the next chapter of Central Asia’s development and international engagement.
