Czech republic nationalday 2025

The main national day of the Czech Republic in 2025 is October 28, marking the Day of the Establishment of Independent Czechoslovakia. The Czech Republic welcomes visitors from around the world to commemorate the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1918, following the end of World War I. To celebrate the centenary, hundreds of cultural, social, and sporting events will take place throughout the year, highlighting the era known as the First Republic — the twenty years between the First and Second World Wars.

Czechoslovakia was established in the aftermath of World War I as one of the successor states to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This Central European nation existed—with a brief interruption during World War II—from October 28, 1918, until December 31, 1992, when it peacefully dissolved on January 1, 1993, into the independent Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. In 2018, both nations celebrated one hundred years since their founding, honoring their shared history and contributions to the world.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm with Ambassador Radek Matula warmly invited members of the Diplomatic Corps and distinguished guests to celebrate the Czech National Day on October 23, 2025. The elegant reception took place at the Embassy residence on Villagatan 21 in Stockholm, offering a wonderful afternoon of culture and hospitality.

Guests enjoyed a delightful selection of traditional Czech food and beverages, while mingling in a warm and festive atmosphere.
