The main national day of the Czech Republic in 2025 is October 28, marking the Day of the Establishment of Independent Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia was established in the aftermath of World War I as one of the successor states to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This Central European nation existed—with a brief interruption during World War II—from October 28, 1918, until December 31, 1992, when it peacefully dissolved on January 1, 1993, into the independent Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. In 2018, both nations celebrated one hundred years since their founding, honoring their shared history and contributions to the world.
