Kosovo marks today the 26th anniversary of Liberation Day.
On this day in 1999, NATO peacekeeping troops entered Kosovo following a military campaign targeting Serbian military and police forces in Kosovo and Serbia. The airstrikes, which began on March 24 and concluded on June 10, lasted 78 days. During this period, aircraft from 13 NATO member states carried out 38,000 sorties, including 400 bombing missions, deploying a total of 10,484 projectiles.

On this occasion, President Vjosa Osmani stated that “despite the efforts of the enemies, the history of Kosovo cannot be changed.” Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti paid tribute at the graves of former President Ibrahim Rugova and former activist Adem Demaçi, as well as at the ”Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz.
