The IWC International Women’s Day Celebration at the Golden Foyer, Royal Swedish Opera 4th of March 2025.

IWC The International Women’s Club of Stockholm, Sweden celebrated International Women’s Day with a wonderful lunch concert at the Royal Opera in the Gold Foyer. IWC President Ann-Louice Dahlgren started welcome the guests. There was a special concert at The Swedish Royal Opera House, Golden Foyer performed by members of the Royal Swedish Opera. The program features soprano Kristina Hansson Unander and mezzo-soprano Matilda Wahlund, accompanied by pianist Samuel Skönberg. They performed opera duets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791), including the well-known Le sorelle e l’amore.

The atmosphere was so full of energy with women in the Golden foyer. The Guest of Honour 2025 is the President of the Stockholm City Council, Mr. Olle Burell, who will deliver the traditional International Women’s Day speech to IWC.

As in previous years, the concert luncheon is a special arrangement between the Royal Swedish Opera and IWC, supporting the Royal Swedish Opera’s Instrument Appeal. This initiative is dedicated to maintaining the orchestra’s artistic excellence through the restoration or purchase of unique instruments. [Read more about the Instrument Appeal here.]

As the Royal Swedish Opera House will soon undergo a huge renovation, this was a unique opportunity to enjoy lunch and a concert in one of Sweden’s finest cultural heritage sites, dating back to 1891.

Event Program:

11:30 – Doors open. Welcome drinks available for purchase at the bar.

12:00 – Welcome address by IWC President Ann-Louice Dahlgren.

• International Women’s Day speech by Olle Burell, President of the Stockholm City Council.
• Lunch is served.

12:50 – Introduction by Cecilia Canemyr, Project Manager for Philanthropy and Partnerships at the Royal Swedish Opera.

• Concert featuring Kristina Hansson Unander (soprano), Matilda Wahlund (mezzo-soprano), and Samuel Skönberg (piano), performing opera duets by Mozart.

13:35 – Concert concludes. Farewell mingling.

14:00 – Event ends.

Menu:

Caesar Salad – A crispy bed of fresh salad topped with juicy grilled chicken, golden croutons, parmesan shavings, and Caesar dressing.

Dessert: A delicious chocolate truffle. Bread, tea, and coffee are included. Wine and other drinks can be purchased separately at the venue.

NB: The luncheon fee includes a 200 SEK donation to the Royal Swedish Opera’s Instrument Appeal.
