The reception on 14th of October at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Stockholm on behalf of the Delegation headed by Mr. Nodir Jumaev, Chair of the Committee on Industrial, Construction, and Trade Issues at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

During the event, the Delegation provided insights into the Upcoming Parliamentary Elections the 27th of October, and the current reform processes in Uzbekistan. Afterwards all guests was served traditional Uzbek dishes at the Uzbekistan Embassy of Stockholm in Sweden.

Parliamentary elections will be held on Uzbekistan on 27 October 2024 to elect members of the Legislative Chamber.

Electoral system – The 150 members of the Legislative Chamber are elected via two methods: half are elected in single-member constituencies via first-past-the-post voting, while the other half are elected via closed list proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency with an electoral threshold of 7%. If less than one-third of eligible voters participate in an election, it will be considered invalid, and if no party crosses the electoral threshold for proportional seats, the elections for the proportional seats will be considered invalid. At least 40% of candidates must be women.

Election Day – ODIHR has requested 300 short-term observers to be deployed immediately prior to the 27 October elections. The short-term observers will be deployed throughout the country in multinational teams of two to follow the opening of polling stations, the voting, the counting of ballots, and the tabulation of results.

The day after the elections, ODIHR will issue a statement of preliminary findings and conclusions at a press conference. A final report on the observation of the entire electoral process will be issued approximately eight weeks after the end of the observation mission.

Peter Lulle Johansson from Cawa Media will be one of the 300 observers (the only Swedish observer) on the 27th of October 2024 in Tashkent in Uzbekistan.
