Embassy of Hungary with Ambassador dr. Adrien Müller in Stockholm invited and arranged a Christmas concert with the acapella group Jazzation from Budapest at Erik Ericsonhallen at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm on the 7th of December 2022.
We heard the songs: Have yourself a merry little christmas, Feljött már a hajnalcsillag, A foggy day in London town, Let it snow, Kadjama Djama, The cherry tree carol, Az én babám, Round midnight, Alleluia, Come sunday, Jingle bells, Surprise song, Blue monk, Mi vagyunk a rózsák.
Five singers, four albums, three ladies, two gentlemen, in one word: Jazzation. This multi-award-winning acapella group from Budapest (Hungary) has already wound its way into international jury’s hearts in Graz, Pinerolo, Leipzig and Aarhus, but what they feel most proud is having shared the stage several times with wonderful vocal groups and experts from all around the world (e.g. Bobby McFerrin, The Real Group, The King’s Singers). While authentic vocal jazz is their main profile, Jazzation also performs vocal world music inspired by different cultures, as well as numerous original arrangements.
Jazzation consists of five unique musicians. Internationally recognised bass singer Máté Homor originally specialised in sacral music and has a background in world-renowned Hungarian choral singing. Katus Várallyay brings the world music theme to the group, Sára Bolyki pairs jazz singing with folk music mastery. Gina Kanizsa is both jazz singer and vocal coach, and Barnabás Bolyki as the youngest member of the ensemble is studying jazz at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
